Custom Products Group Leader

Job description

The Custom Products Group Leader will be responsible for managing all necessary resources required to complete the design, development, and fabrication of custom equipment in the industries served by TesSol Incorporated. This will include:

  • Implementation of documentation control procedures and other group policies;
  • Development of quotations and system specifications;
  • Day to day management of custom equipment delivery including scheduling, resources, etc.;
  • The ability to generate system P&ID as well as electrical schematics based upon system requirements and target cost;
  • Develop the system specifications, expected performance and operating area parameters;
  • Perform a FEMA, usability, repair, fabrication cost, cost of ownership, and maintenance study;
  • Develop a software features and specifications requirement document;
  • Fabricate prototypes;
  • Work with vendors and purchasing to provide any necessary custom components and obtain long term component pricing;
  • Work with documentation to develop hardware and software users manuals;
  • Confirm the operation and FEMA of the unit in-house and, potentially, at customer sites;
  • Work with marketing to develop sales literature and brochures;
  • Transition product to manufacturing;
  • Transition service knowledge to customer service for continued product support.
  • Manage annual budget for new equipment, software, etc.

Technical Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have an understanding of the requirements for testing fuel cells and catalysts. The candidate must demonstrate an understanding of system level issues regarding the basic operation of fuel cell power systems including fuel and oxidant control and delivery, oxygen safety, air management, thermal requirements, water handling high current DC power electronics, system communications, and data acquisition. This position will require a thorough understanding of automation, instrumentation and control, electrochemical devices, power electronics, pressure control systems, heat exchangers, flow control, embedded controllers, system packaging, design for manufacturing, etc.

This is a hands-on position that will have support groups or individuals for documentation, purchasing, fabrication, and testing. However, the position will most certainly require a first hand ability to generate and modify process flow diagrams, fabricate, and evaluate the product being created. The successful candidate will have excellent electro-mechanical and electrical skills with a demonstrated ability to take products from schematic development through component selection and prototype fabrication. Experience and a demonstrated knowledge of system and hazardous gas safety, system safety measures, system monitoring probes, switches, etc., is required.

It is expected that the successful candidate will have 5-10 years direct experience in the development of instrumentation and control equipment having a similar level of complexity and cost target as the existing TesSolTM product line.

  • Ability to work with safety standards and evaluation agencies to obtain the required certification on the hardware.
  • Ability to work with manufacturing to transition equipment to our standard production.

C++ Programmer Positions (Part-Time and Full-Time)

Job Description

The Software Programmer will be responsible for writing core and support code for our existing software test suite. The skills and tasks required for this position will include:

  • Experience in writing applications utilizing DCOM;
  • Integration of off-the-shelf and custom hardware into our software platform;
  • Developing software features and specifications requirement documents;
  • Leading review discussions of proposed code topology, framework, and features;
  • Specifying hardware and software tools required for the development and support effort;
  • Working with internal documentation personnel to maintain software users manuals;
  • Effectively respond to bugs found during in-house testing procedures;
  • Confirming the operation of the code in-house and, potentially, at customer sites;
  • Working with marketing personnel to describe software features in sales literature and brochures;
  • Quickly and accurately correct bugs found after release of the product;
  • Providing long term support for software enhancements, and upgrades;
  • Transitioning service knowledge to customer service for continued product support.

Technical Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have an understanding of the requirements for testing fuel cells and catalysts and must demonstrate an understanding of software controlled test equipment.

This is a hands-on position that will have support groups or individuals for documentation and long-term testing. However, the daily responsibility of the successful candidate will be to plan, write, document, and test code. The successful candidate will have an understanding of electro-mechanical and electrical systems with a demonstrated ability to write hardware control code. It is expected that the successful candidate will have direct experience in the development of instrumentation and control software having a similar level of complexity as our existing TesSol Test SuiteTM control software. Job description

The Technical Service Engineer will be joining a team which presently has the responsibility for pre- and post-sales technical support of our hardware and software product lines. In this role, each individual in this group will:

  • Pre-Sales
    • Work with Fideris sales personnel during the pre-sales stage to answer customer questions;
    • Relay sales leads and potential opportunities to the sales team;
  • Technical Support - Issue Resolution
    • Answer customer inquiries and requests for technical support telephone calls and emails in a timely manner;
    • Track customer issues through to completion to ensure a 100% resolution rate;
    • Contribute to the existing Technical Support Issues and Solutions documentation including updates and new issues/resolutions;
    • Contribute to our website general FAQ and customer restricted access FAQ and issues/resolution documentation;
    • Contribute to and help establish clear and accurate setup and troubleshooting procedures for internal and customer use;
    • Contribute to the establishment of a web-based database of procedures for customers and service personnel in the field;
    • Relay hardware and software issues back to engineering and software testing groups for product improvement at every opportunity;
  • Technical Support Installation, Training and Acceptance
    • Provide customer training and education either at the customers site or at a Fideris facility or through remote educational tools such as Webex, conference calls, etc.;
    • Participate in the factory acceptance stage of equipment delivery;
    • Provide on-site installation and engineering acceptance;
    • Maintain continuing education on established equipment as well as new features and products;
  • Calibration Services
    • Provide calibration services for Fideris and third-party instruments including but limited to pressure, temperature, voltage, current, humidity, flow;
    • Maintain calibration records for Fideris owned equipment;
    • Contribute to calibration procedures and processes to establish and maintain ISO 9000 certification.

Technical Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have an understanding of the requirements for testing fuel cells and catalysts. The candidate must demonstrate an understanding of system level hardware and software involving the installation, operation, and diagnostics of Fideris software and hardware systems including reactant control and delivery, oxygen safety, air management, thermal management, water handling, high current DC systems, system communications, and data acquisition. This position will require an understanding of instrumentation and control, electronics, pressure control systems, heat exchangers, flow control, embedded controllers, and a high-level understanding of the customers application such as electrochemical devices, catalysts, etc.

This is a hands-on position that will require extremely good verbal and written communication skills. The successful candidate will have electro-mechanical and electrical skills with a demonstrated ability to follow and troubleshoot from system electrical schematics and P&IDs. Experience and an understanding of system and software diagnostics and support is required.

While beneficial, it is not expected that the candidate will have personal, hands-on experience with fuel cell or catalyst testing. However, the successful candidate will have direct experience in a related field and operating instrumentation and control equipment having a similar level of complexity as the existing TesSolTM product line.

Personal Qualifications:

  • Effective communication with personnel within the group, sales, and customers;
  • Ability to rapidly understand the customer application and issues;
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills;
  • Moderate level of programming experience in C++, VBScript or similar;
  • Self-starting, self-directing, able to make decisions and take ownership for issues related to a customers problem.
  • Experience of at least 2-5 years.
  • BS in EE, ME or ChE desirable but experience in lieu of degree would be considered.
  • Liaising with managers, software engineers, documentation group, and sales in creating and refining technical documentation.
  • Ability to work at a customers site in a professional and efficient manner.

Work Location and Travel

It is anticipated that this position will require regular domestic and international travel (up to 50%).
Assembly Technician (Part-Time)

TesSol Incorporated has an immediate opening for a part-time Assembly Technician. The individual must be detail-oriented and have the desire to work in a fast paced environment with a diverse group of people.

The ideal applicant must have mechanical skills and should be able to work with hands and power tools. Candidate must also have the ability to understand electrical and fluid schematics and should have a great deal of craftsmanship. The individual must have a positive can-do attitude, be self-motivated, professional and possess good communication skills.
